Having been missing for several days after escaping from a local home, “Ralph”, a six-month old female Grey African Parrot, decided to pay WP Group a visit this morning. After landing on one of the fuel tanker driver’s shoulders, WP Group provided the magnificent bird with a make-shift cage, food and water while the company searched for its owners.
The local veterinary informed WP that no missing parrot had been reported and company employee Miles Coles took matters into his own hands. Miles posted to a popular social media site, asking if anyone was missing the beautiful bird. Just a short time after posting the news, a mutual friend managed to identify Ralph’s owner, Shirley McKell, who collected her bird from the local vets this afternoon.
Ms McKell lost the parrot when one of her sons left their patio door open last Thursday evening and the family is delighted to have her safely returned.
This is another extraordinary example of the power of social media, and today proved that a lot of good can come out of social sharing!
WP Group is pleased to have helped Ralph and her family reunited. Although short-lived, Ralph’s arrival definitely added some excitement to a Monday morning!
