Operations director Russell Fairchild, pictured above, based at WP’s head office by Fawley Refinery, near Southampton, said: “All six vehicles are compliant with Euro 5 standards, with reduced emissions, and are among the greenest of their kind on the road today.
“We take our environmental responsibilities seriously here, particularly because of the industry we are in, and the latest additions to the fleet will help reduce fuel consumption whilst being kinder to the environment. Safety and comfort are also factors.”
The new vehicles are a 32-tonne Scania, capable of carrying up to 22,000 litres, two 26-tonne Manns with a capacity of 19,500 litres each and one 26-tonne Manns 12-tonne with up to 7,500 litres.
Russell added: “The tankers have been bought for their flexible performance, torque and payload capabilities as we deliver to all sorts of environments and terrains, from a remote farmhouse along a narrow rutted lane to ships at ports.”
All of WP’s tanker drivers hold the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), a qualification designed for the UK transport and haulage industry, with emphasis placed on safety and fuel economy.
