In what is one of the highlights of our calendar year, WP Group once again attended The New Forest & Hamsphire County Show. The theme for this year was “Get Involved” and WP Group certainly got into the spirit of the event, with a stand that really encouraged participation.
The Giant Scalextric track proved especially popular with the participants all keenly trying to win a driving experience, kindly donated by Thruxton Driving Centre. With a wet track on day one it was a matter of some skill to keep the cars on the track but it was great fun and hugely entertaining. Whilst you might have assumed this would be a competition for the boys and their toys, the fastest lap-time over the whole event was posted by a young lady of just seven years old! Discover the winners and view the leaderboards here.
There was fierce competition surrounding the Giant Buzz Wire game, with the challenge being to beat the buzzer and set the fastest time. After rain affected play on day one our Buzz Wire game lost its buzzer, so whilst it was somewhat quieter it was no less exciting. The buzzer was repaired on day two and so the silence was frequently broken as the frustrated entrant touched the wire in their attempt to set the fastest time. The winners in each of four age groups, under 7s, 7-14, 14-17 and adults, won a goody pack supplied by our technical partner VEHO. See if you’re a winner and view the leaderboards here.
Although the event was slightly marred on day one with rain coming down for most of the morning, the crowds were out and their enthusiasm couldn’t be dampened. The weather steadily improved and on day three, with the sun beating down, the Giant Teepee proved to be a source of sanctuary for young and old. Not only were we able to provide some respite for our human visitors, but our four-legged friends were catered for too with our Giant dog bowl providing a cooling source of sustenance.
Over the three days, whilst we were having fun, we raised the tremendous sum of £1,068.16. We are gladly donating half each to our charity partners Funding Neuro and Oakhaven Hospice. Masie Hamilton and Bryn Williams from Funding Neuro attended the show and helped man the Buzz Wire game. Maisie commented; "We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you all for your support at the New Forest Show. It was just fantastic, and something we were proud to be part of. It was a pleasure to work with you all and to meet the team, and we'll hope to get more involved in the future too. Thanks again for all your hard work."
Thank you to everyone for “Getting Involved” and for helping to make the event such a great success.
